Having produced its first vintage in 1896, Te Mata can claim to be the oldest winery in New Zealand. Situated in Hawkes Bay on the North Island, the winery and vineyards have received considerable investment from the current owners. The result being that Te Mata Estate is now in full production making small lots of extremely high quality wine from hand harvested vines. The combination of modern innovation and unique climatic conditions means that Te Mata enjoys the reputation of producing full and ripened wines that have the potential to develop further within the bottle.
