[ROOSEVELT]. Two finely painted coats of arms: one for "Roosevelt," with motto "Qui plantavit curabit," rendered in red and silver, the central panel depicting a small rosebush with three red roses; the other painted in green, red, silver and gold, without motto, signed "W.P. Jr, '37." the other for "van Rosevelt," the escutcheon bearing a red lion on a gold ground, and a silver chevron and three cinquefoils on a green ground above. Each 7½ x 6¼ in., in good carved frames. (Two earlier frames, in which they had been for many years, are preserved with the lot.)
