Provenance
These sharpening steels were commissioned by Franklin D. Roosevelt as a Christmas present for Eleanor Roosevelt. They were made at the Val-Kill Industries workshops at Hyde Park which Eleanor Roosevelt set up in 1925. Arnold Berge was head of the Pewter Enterprise at the Val-Kill Industries.
