With nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf's tooth winding, gold cuvette with engraved presentation inscription, the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blued steel spade hands, arc-shaped up and down indicator, subsidiary seconds, in circular case with engraved monogram to the reverse, case, cuvette and movement signed and numbered, dial signed

This fine watch was presented to Franklin D. Roosevelt from the Minister of The Navy of Argentina. The engraved inscription on the cuvette is in Spanish and is translated as follows, From Vice Admiral Juan Pablo Saenz Valiente Minister of The Navy of the Republic of Argentina to Franklin D. Roosevelt Assistant Secretary of the Navy of the United States of America 1916. The border of the cuvette is engraved, No. 178440 Awarded First Prize Geneva Astronomical Observatory Timing Contest 1915-1916. The engraved monogram to the reverse reads, FDR. Has inventory tag number 603.
