A REGENCY MAHOGANY BAROMETER/THERMOMETER
Early 19th century
Of banjo form, with a broken swan's neck pediment with spiral flame finial, the upper circular convex glazed aperture with steel face engraved DRY/DAMP, above a long arched glazed aperture with molded surround enclosing an engraved steel thermometer, a later circular mirror with molded surround to the middle, the lower large circular convex glazed aperture with steel plate engraved with the climes and two scrolling blued steel hands, and a lower circular glazed aperture with level inscribed WARRANTED/CORRECT, the front of case with fruitwood stringing around the edges, with the modern dealer's black ink stamp, with the pencil inscription N12, the thermometer probably replaced
