A REGENCY MAHOGANY BAROMETER/THERMOMETER
Early 19th century
Of banjo form, with a broken swan's neck pediment with turned bone baluster finial, the upper circular convex glazed aperture with steel face engraved DRY/DAMP and with floating bone indicator, above a long arched glazed aperture with molded surround enclosing an engraved steel thermometer, the lower large circular convex glazed aperture with steel plate engraved with the climes and two scrolling blue steel hands, and a lower circular glazed aperture with level inscribed WARRANTED/CORRECT, the front of case with fruitwood stringing around the edges
