A walnut, crossbanded and marquetry double dome bureau cabinet, early 18th century and later, probably German
With alterations, the upper part with a moulded arched cornice and fitted interior with shelves and pigeon holes containing two central shallow long drawers between a deep drawer to either side with inscription to underside ob and unten, enclosed by a pair of ogee arched bevelled mirror panelled doors, one of an earlier date, fitted with candle slides below, the sides with arched cornice and strapwork scroll inlaid frieze and side panels, the lower part with a sloping fall, crossbanded and inlaid with strapwork scroll, enclosing a fitted interior with concave crossbanded drawers and well with a slide and later tooled leather writing surface between C-scroll panels containing two short and two long drawers below between cushion mouldings, on a moulded base with bracket feet, restorations and replacements to the interior, the shape of thre cresting probably altered
