Conceived 1929-1930 and cast in the early 1970s; This sculpture is number four of eight artist's proofs (there was also a numbered edition of 35).

Lot Essay

The individual figures in this sculpture were originally designed in 1929-1930. In the early 1970's, Ernst authorized the Societé de Diffusion d'Oeuvres Plastiques et Multiples, Paris, to cast a bronze edition.
