Besson's Instrumentorum et machinarum was first published in Latin at ?Orléans in 1569, and was followed by 3 editions published by Vincent in 1578: the present edition in French, a Latin edition, and a Latin edition with the preliminary text in French. The present edition, like the Latin edition of 1578, uses the engravings of the first edition, with 4 exceptions: plates 17, 35, 39 and 51, which are signed by Boyvin. For this edition: Adams B840; Brunet I, 829-830. For the 1569 and other 1578 editions: cf. Adams B-837-839; Mortimer French 56-58. Sold not subject to return, due to possible absence of text.
