Lot Essay

The facial type of this figure is reminiscent of the work of the great enameller Leonard Limousin. A comparison can be made for example, between this plaque and the plaque depicting The Betrayal in the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore (illustrated in P. Verdier, The Walters Art Gallery - Catalogue of the Enamels of the Renaissance, 1967, no. 107, pp. 175 - 177).
