Charles I, Oxford mint, Pound, 1644, m.m. plume on obverse only, fine equestrian portrait of king riding over arms and armour (attributed to Thomas Rawlins), rev. large single plume above declaration in three lines within cartouche, ornamented with a lion's head (Morr. A-1; N.2402; S.2943), a little wear on king, otherwise a superb example of this celebrated type, almost extremely fine, extremely rare
