Note: This lot is accompanied by a transcript of notes taken from the Philatelic Journal of India 1900 regarding the discovery of this cover by Major Hancock. Masson and Sefi & Mortimer refer to this and the 1a. orange being known bisected though the latter say the former is unknown to them. The requirement for the bisect may have been occasioned by a shortage of the .1a. Kashmir stamps at the end of the season. The .1a. value was only used on visitor's mail
