A VICTORIAN FAUX-BAMBOO FIGURED MAPLE WRITING DESK
Attributed to R.J. Horner & Company (w. 1886-1915), New York City, circa 1890
In two parts, the upper with bamboo-turned gallery on back and sides, with pointed center, above a rectangular top over a conforming frame in three sections, the central with open shelf, the outer sections with doors opening to compartmented interiors, all surrounded by bamboo turnings; the lower section with rectangular top with slantfront with inset rectangular leather panel, opening to compartmented interior, above a rectangular case with two short drawers on proper right left side, all surrounded by turned bamboo moldings, all on bamboo legs with turned bamboo stretchers and feet
