Lot Essay

The original 'rose' chest was Adrian's "favorite" piece of furniture and was featured in advertising for his gowns. Duquette purchased the deteriorating plaster original from Adrian and reproduced it in resin. Only ten copies were produced. The original 'rose' chest was used by Cecil Beaton in his sets for Mrs. Higgins' house in Warner Bros. 'My Fair Lady'
