Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period
Molded on the sides with the Eight Trigrams and covered overall with a greyish-blue glaze suffused with a network of golden crackle

Lot Essay

The shape and glaze of this vase are based on Song guanyao prototypes, such as the vase illustrated in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: A Handbook of the Collection, 1993, p. 297 (bottom right). A similar vase with Qianlong mark was included in the exhibition, Chinese Ceramics of Eight Dynasties, National Museum of History, Taipei, 1987, p. 75.
