Arita Ware, Edo Period (1680s)
Each painted in cobalt blue under clear glaze with geese on rocks, insects and birds in flowering branches, the shoulders with a leafy scroll and the tapered neck with concentric rings, the area below the spout on one with a stiff leaf band, flowering plants and a scrolling band of vines, the other with flowering plants only, tear-shaped mouths of each vessel fitted with gilt-metal mounts
