Modern vellum over flexible pasteboard, by Lobstein-Laurenchet. Provenance: G. Baÿr (contemporary inscription on title); a few later marginalia. Second edition of Mercuriale, FIRST EDITION of Tagliacozzi's important letter to Mercuriale, containing the first published description of his path-breaking achievements in rhinoplasty. He named four successful cases treated in the past year, and announced the imminent publication of a complete treatise on the subject. Because of delays in the preparation of the illustrations, eleven years passed before De curtorum chirurgia was finally published.
