Lot Essay

The style of carving and decoration of this finely carved bowl are clearly inspired by that of 17th century Mughal and 18th century Hindustan jade bowls, such as the imperially inscribed Hindustan white jade bowl of circular form in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, included in the exhibition, Great National Treasures of China, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, 1994, no. 69.
