Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period
The bulbous body painted in Ming style with a wide frieze of composite foliate meander bordered by a band of petal lappets below and a ruyi collar above, with a band of detached formalized foliate sprays and a narrow band of classic scroll at the base of the neck also decorated with foliate scroll below a wave border at the rim

Lot Essay

A bottle vase of similar shape and large size bearing a Qianlong mark, but with different decoration around the shoulder and neck, was included in the exhibition, Qing Imperial Porcelain of the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong Reigns, Nanjing Museum and Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1995, no. 77.
