Lot Essay

A very similar ribbed jar and cover from the collection of the Royal Ontario Museum, decorated with auspicious emblems rather than scenes of court ladies, was included in the exhibition, Silk Roads, China Ships, 10 September 1983 - 8 January 1984, p. 211.
