Montbeliard, second half 18th Century
The rounded rectangular top inlaid with quarter-veneered shaped rectangular panels, above a hinged sloping-flap inlaid with a C-scroll cartouche-shaped panel to the front and a gilt-tooled green leather- lined writing-surface to the reverse, enclosing a fitted interior with three central pigeon-holes above a well flanked to either side by two stepped pigeon-holes above two stepped drawers, above two short and one long drawer, the waved sides inlaid with shaped parquetry panels, on splayed legs terminating in foliate pierced cabochon clasps, the drawers stamped Anc/Montbeliard and Montbeliard, restorations
