The frame with sighting-groove and traces of hardening-colour, flared butt with rosewood grips, the barrel with fixed blade-foresight

With its leather holster and cartridge-belt; the revolver in an associated wooden presentation case, with a Colt's patent bullet-mould, the lid of the case with the following inscription:-
'This old muzzle loading Colt's Revolver belonged to my cousin Reginald Somerville of the 23rd. Welsh Fusiliers, who was killed at the storming of the Redan in the Crimean War. There is a monument erected to him & the other Westminster boys killed in the Crimea, outside Westminster Abbey'.
