A collection of press and other photographs, circa 1870-1910, relating to many French airships of the period, including the Republique, Malécot, Patrie, Clement-Bayard VII, Liberté, Marcay, Santos Dumont, Parseval, Suchard, Zodiac and others. Images include the Republique airborne and post-disaster (25 September 1909), airships over Paris, engine and construction details, passenger accommodation, some airships during army manoeuvres with ground handling parties. Other photographs show the social events connected with the importance of this new invention.
