Parachuting
A collection of press and other photographs illustrating the development of the parachute. Various forms of chute are illustrated, ground to air views of parachutists in training and demonstrating their skills, Royal Air Force pre-Second World War, Hendon displays, one image by United Press Photos of Brigitte Bardot at Abingdon being dragged along the ground by her parachute during the filming of Babette Goes To War in which she co-starred with Ronald Howard, the photograph taken at Abingdon, 11 April 1959, with Beverly aircraft in the background. Other images include hopeful parachutists jumping from buildings, balloons, stratospheric balloons, the French pioneer Collette Duval who jumped from 11,000 metres; and a quantity of photographs of early ejection seat types and trials (100 approx. contained in two ringbinders)
