The later rectangular red marble top above a pierced mask and rosette carved frieze, centered by a tablet set with two classical figures against a stippled ground, the sides similarly decorated, on tapering reeded knopped circular legs, the feet tipped and possibly cut-down, as stated in catalogue

Lot Essay

This side table, with its refined neoclassical ornament and part-fluted, turned and carved legs is characteristically Florentine. A related example in a private collection in Milan is illustrated in G. Morrazzoni, Il mobile neoclassico italiano, Milan, 1955, plate CXCI.
