A GERMAN BAROQUE OAK, FRUITWOOD, SYCAMORE AND MARQUETRY TABLETOP CABINET
Probably Augsburg or Nuremburg, late 16th Century
Of rectangular form, the top, sides and each of the front doors with central oak panel surrounded by checkered stringing with stylized opposing anthemia to each side, the doors inlaid with a song bird on a leafy branch to the central panel, the insides of each door inlaid with a rusticated arched reserve containing a Landesknecht holding a pike, the interior arrangement of two long drawers above a central door flanked to either side by two short drawer above a long drawer fronted as two drawers, each drawer front of interior inlaid with a cityscape, the corners all mounted with brass
