A Chinese ivory group
19th Century
of a bearded immortal seated astride a buddhistic lion, with hair tied up under a cloth peaked cap and with small hands emerging from his eye sockets, holding a fan in one hand with a spear in the other, carrying a double gourd on his back issuing ruyi-heads, the buddhistic lion with head turned to one side angled upwards -- 8in. (20.3cm.) high, (very minor age cracks).
