A Rare German Boar-Sword
Circa 1500
With blade of rectangular section hollowed on the front and back, struck with the mark of Wolfgang Stantler of Passau and Munich, pierced for a cross-bar, and with spatulate tip of flattened diamond section, iron quillons of circular section with incised swelling tips, fig-shaped pommel, and oval wooden grip (split) swelling at the centre, bound with cord and covered with its original leather
