A Rare Italian Bacinet Or Barbuta Visor
Circa 1350
Of one piece, bulbous and shaped to cover a T-shaped face-opening, with an almost circular upper part pierced by a pair of flanged sights, then narrowing to form a long slightly incurving 'tongue' with straight sides and rounded lower edge, below the sights a medial ridge flanked by numerous small breaths, and at the top a riveted hinge, its upper part an iron strap pierced with two slots for attachment to flat hooks on the brow of a helmet (acid cleaned)
