TWO ANGLO-INDIAN PEWTER-INLAID IVORY BOXES AND A VICTORIAN BRASS-INLAID AND RED-TORTOISESHELL BOULLE INKSTAND
The boxes 19th Century
The boxes:
One parquetry-banded overall with circular medallions to the main panels, the other with similar parquetry banding, the top marked for chess, dominoes and nine-mens morris, enclosing a backgammon board with removable lid, the sides with parquetry panels, with 53 various ivory games pieces, with printed paper label to the reverse 'Mrs Whitbread Southill Park Biggleswade'
The inkstand:
Of rectangular form, with scrolling foliate inlay, the glass inkwell flanked by two tops between pen-trays, with concave sides
3 in. (7.5 cm.) high; 11¾ in. (30 cm.) wide; 5 in. (12.5 cm.) deep the other: 2½ in. (6.5 cm) high; 12 in. (30.5 cm.) wide; 5 in. (13 cm.) deep
The inkstand:
4 in. (10 cm.) high; 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) wide; 7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) deep (2)
