BENCZUR Gyula 1844-1920
A pupil of Karl Piloty at the Munich Academy, in 1876 he was appointed a teacher there where he remained until 1883, when he returned to Budapest. He was awarded a bronze medal in Paris in 1878 for his work 'The Baptism of Valk' but was best known and highly decorated as a portraitist. In the 1890's he exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Francais.
