DESARCES, Henri. Nouvelle Encyclopédie pratique de Mécanique et d'Electricité, Paris: Aristide Quillet, 1924. 4 volumes, including one plate volume, 4°, half title, volumes I-III contain 29 plates, some folding, numerous illustrations (one with clean tear at folds), the atlas volume containing 14 coloured lithographed plates, one folding, each with numerous moveable flaps, descriptive text opposite each plate (one flap nearly detached from plate 13, also detached from that plate is a protective plastic window), original blind-stamped publisher's cloth, lettered in gilt (upper compartment of plate vol. partly torn away and spine very rubbed, other vols. lightly rubbed).
The plate volume depicts various elaborate mechanical and electrical inventions such as a steam and an aeroplane engine, an aeroplane (see illustration above), a Métro train and a telephone. (4)
