A PAIR OF REGENCY MAHOGANY BEDSIDE STEPS
Each with hinged reeded rounded rectangular black leather-lined top, one enclosing a ceramic bowl fitted into a removable interior with pierced cover, the sides with pierced carrying-handles, with black leather-lined lower step with reeded edge, on ring-turned reeded tapering legs
19¼ in. (49 cm.) high; 21¼ in. (54 cm.) wide; 24 in. (61 cm.) deep (2)

Descriptif du lot

Similar bedsteps with Egyptian reeded legs were supplied by Gillows of London and Lancaster for Tatton Park, Cheshire in 1811 (see N. Goodison and J. Hardy, 'Gillows at Tatton Park', Furniture History, 1970, p. 10, pl. 11B). The stamp 'GILLOWS LANCASTER' was recorded on related bedsteps, sold by Silvana Mangano (+), in these Rooms, 26 April 1990, lot 99.
