The rectangular twin-flap top above a frieze drawer, on square chamfered legs joined by a concave-sided square platform stretcher and headed by pierced angle-brackets, with brass castors, one angle-bracket replaced

Lot Essay

A related pembroke breakfast table possibly supplied to Harewood House, Yorkshire, by Thomas Chippendale (d. 1799) was sold by the Earl of Harewood, in these Rooms, 1 April, 1976, lot 45. Another pembroke table, bearing the label of Richard and William Gomm of Clerkenwell Close, is illustrated in C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, Leeds, 1996, p. 226, figs. 401 and 402. A similar pembroke table was offered anonymously, in these Rooms, 11 February 199, lot 120.
