A PAIR OF MAHOGANY ARMCHAIRS OF GEORGE III STYLE
Each with shaped toprail carved with ribbons and flowers above a pierced Gothic-arch splat centred by quatrefoils, the reeded side supports and shaped arm-rests terminating in acanthus cabochons, above a dished seat on square chamfered legs and stepped block feet, with repaired breaks to the front legs (2)

Lot Essay

An identical set of four armchairs was sold anonymously, Christie's South Kensington, 10 April 1991, lot 174. Another set were offered anonymously at Sotheby's, 8 May 1992, lot 62.
