A full size Whitney twin cylinder steam automobile engine of circa 1890
with metal clad cylinders approximately 2in. bore x 3in. stroke, bronze frame incorporated crosshead guides, valve spindle guides, lever and quadrant operated Stephenson's link reverse, flat tapered connecting rods and crankshaft with roller bearings and centrally mounted chain sprocket, mainly unpainted and mounted on a metal stand --22½ x 8in. (57.2 x 20.3cm.). Brass plate engraved 'Whitney Steam Automobile Engine built for William Mason circa 1890'. Framed historical note.
