The dished rectangular top above a shallow frieze and shaped apron centred by a scallop-shell flanked by scrolls, on turned tapering legs headed by scallop-shells and husk-trails, on scrolled trifid bifurcated feet, three legs with a section let into the top, restored shrinkage split to the top

Lot Essay

A related serpentine-framed card-table, with shell-enriched frieze and legs and trifid scroll feet, is illustrated in G.A. Kenyon, The Irish Furniture at Malahide Castle, Dublin, 1994, p.101. The leaf-wrapped foot also features on a shell-enriched and tray-top table reputed to have come from the Irish Parliament House, sold anonymously in these Rooms, 17 April 1997, lot 19.
