An extremely fine museum quality 1:32 partially planked model of an Admiralty Barge of circa 1700-1710
built from his own researches and draughts supplied by the National Maritime Museum by R.A. Lightley, of Swedish pearwood, unplanked below the waterline to reveal 'Navy Board' style framing of that period with keel, foot boards and thwarts, tiller and rudder, the rudder head carved in the form of a male head, hole pins, sheerplanks and bow delicately carved and decorated in boxwood with copper wire dowels, finished in Venetian red with gold and polychrome friezes and armorials, wood sealed and coated with light wood oil and mounted on two tapered turned columns on a walnut display base with ten oars and jackstaff. Measurements overall --5¼ x 15¼in. (13.4 x 38.6cm.)
