An early 19th-Century hour-glass,
constructed of segments of marine bone-ivory, the four baluster-turned pillars uniting the end plates covered with rosettes and other turned decoration, the two glass bulbs each with some air bubbles, joined at the centre with wax-covered silk cloth and gilt-wire cord binding -- 8 7/8in. (22.5cm.) high
