The table's reed-ringed legs correspond to those of a chair bearing the stamp of William Priest of Blackfriars and his Tudor Street address. His trade label advertised 'Office, Library & Counting House furniture and fittings of all descriptions' (C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, Leeds, 1996, pp. 45 and 379). Gilbert also illustrates a related table bearing the label of William Hean of Lincoln's Inn Field and dating from the mid-1820's (pp. 33 and 261).
