The breakfront cornice with bead and reel moulding and ogee panels flanked by rosettes, above a pair of doors with quatrefoil glazing-bars each enclosing three shelves, the lower section with a pair of quatrefoil-panelled doors with beaded corners and flanked by a similar door to each side, each enclosing two shelves, restoration to the ends of the cornice

Lot Essay

The bookcase's Gothic-arched glazing tied with a quatrefoiled ribbon-fret featured in a pattern for 'Book Case Doors', illustrated in George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture, 1808 (pl. 106).
