Including two armchairs, each with a panelled toprail above a pair of reeded supports with horizontal pierced splat centred by the 'Prince of Wales' feathers, the seat covered in cream and green cut-velvet on ring-turned tapering legs and toupie feet, restorations, three legs and one armrest probably replaced (8)

Lot Essay

The chairs' Grecian pattern with reeded backs and curved tablet rails relates to a 'parlour chair' pattern illustrated in Thomas Sheraton's, The Cabinet-Maker, Upholsterer and General Artist's Encyclopaedia, pl. 6. A related set of chairs, with the Prince of Wales's plumed badge in the ribbon-fretted rails, was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 16 July 1987, lot 31.
