A George III ebonised striking bracket clock, circa 1790
The case with brass handle to the breakarch top with brass lined triple pads, silk backed fishscale sound frets to the sides, applied with brass strips to all four angles, the front door with foliate cast quarter frets and convex glass, on stepped and moulded base and raied on brass bracket feet, the white painted Roman dial signed Hawkins London (dial repainted), with cut steel hands, the five pillar twin wire fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell, pull trip repeat, with repeat signature to the backplate also with engraved border, pendulum holdfast (lacking retaining screw), later bell -- 14¼in. (36cm.) high
