An early Victorian mahogany striking bracket clock, circa 1840
The wavy arch top case with foliate mouldings to the front and rope-twist front angles, with leaf mouldings to the front of the base and on bun feet, the silvered circular Roman dial with strike/silent lever above XII and signed in the centre James Gowland 52 London Wall, with steel moon hands (hour replaced), the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on gong, with repeat signature to the backplate also with pendulum holdfast -- 18½in. (47cm.) high
