The case with stepped top hood, with ribbed decoration to the cornices angled in opposing directions to the two sides, wooden tracery sound frets to the sides, short rectangular trunk door flanked by chamfered angles, on plain plinth raised on bracket feet (partially lacking to rear), the 13in. wide white dial with painted spandrels with figures emblematic of the seasons, the arch painted with a family group gathered around a Bible reading, with a small child off to one side cutting the tail off a cat, entitled The Cotters' Saturday Night, the white centre with Roman chapters and subsidiary seconds and date rings, signed DA.D WILSON SELKIRK (partially rubbed), with brass hands, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 84in. (213cm.) high
