cover 1851 laid paper, 6d. slate-lilac with good to large margins all round, cancelled with several target obliterators and tied on 1853 (28 Mar.) entire ex the Kennedy correspondence (addressee excised) to New York, showing horseshoe-framed "CANADA", Montreal c.d.s. and U.S. "PAID" h.s., all struck in red; the entire apparently treated to reduce stains though this is not at all evident.
