Feather and chequerbanded overall, the later triangular open pediment with triglyph platform above a dentilled cornice and a pair of geometrically glazed doors with a bureau section below enclosing a fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes around a central drawer inlaid with a ewer with four graduated drawers below on shaped bracket feet, the drawers to the lower section stamped M BUTLER DUBLIN the drawers to the bureau section stamped M BUTLER DUBLIN each drawer with printed stamp M BUTLER/COLLECTOR OF HIGH CLASS ANTIQUE FURNITURE AND WORKS OF ART/28 - 127 Upper Abbey St., Dublin below a crown, the bureau and upper section stamped at the rear upper edge on both sides M BUTLER DUBLIN the writing slope stamped M BUTLER, two panes cracked

A photograph of the hall at Lissenhall showing part of the bookcase is illustrated in J.O'Carroll Robertson A Long Way From Tipperary, 1994,pp 139. The firm of Michael Butler in Dublin specialised in embellishing and reproducing Irish 18th century furntiure and is recorded in this address in 1904-1912, D Fitzgerald, Dublin Directories And Furniture History, 1985, pp 262, firm worked extensively for the 1st Lord of Iveagh (d. 1927) and six pieces were included in the Elveden Hall House Sale, Christies 21st-24th May 1984
