A GEORGE IV SCOTTISH CARVED MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, IN THE MANNER OF WILLIAM TROTTER
The upper part with a moulded cornice and frieze fitted with adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of glazed panelled doors with beaded moulding between projecting acanthus leaf shuttered stiles with paterae and foliate ornament, the lower part of recessed broken outline with crossbanded top and a reeded edge panelled fall with foliate scrolls to the spandrels and beaded turned handels with brass lock inscribed I BRAMAH coronet and PATENT enclosing a fitted figured interior with drawers and pigeon holes with foliate scroll friezes and inlaid with ebony stringing with shaped sides fitted with shutter fronted and fret scroll carved trays concealing on the insides secret drawers to the depth of the stiles, enclosed by a conforming pair of panel door with similar ornament between projecting acanthus leave and shuttered stiles with shuttered frieze on moulded recessed square tapered feet
