Founding the Company bearing his name in 1932, Harry Winston deftly handled some of the most extraordinary gems and important jewelry in the 20th Century. With the finest rough diamonds available, as well as numerous historical gems, he imbued his pieces with exceptional style. His intuition and discretion, combined with his prodigious knowledge and love of stones, were legendary. Because Winston had an insightful and visionary eye for how an array of stones might be crafted into a superb piece of jewelry and by introducing a fine, flexible wire setting, he revolutionized jewelry design, emphasizing the sheer beauty of the diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds, shorn of excess metal.
