Painted in the center with the Imperial State eagle within the chain of the Order of St. Andrew on an ermine-lined mantle surmounted by the Imperial crown, the border with gold ciselé trophies of arms and lion heads on cobalt blue ground, unmarked

Recent research has determined that this service was produced for the Coronation of Nicholas I.
Until recent years, it had been thought that the service was made for the Coronation of Alexander II as stated in Wolf, The Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, 1906, plates 344-346.
